Chicken Teriyaki Salad Bowl

Looking for a quick, tasty dinner to break out of your mealtime rut? This Chicken Teriyaki Salad Bowl recipe definitely fits the bill. Speaking of bills, this dish doesn’t come with one, and it’s even better than takeout (but feel free to tip yourself). Built on the array of textures and savory flavors found in our Asian Chopped Salad Kit, this recipe is a breeze to throw together — simply marinate and cook your chicken, and you’ve done about 90% of the work already. Want to go a different direction with the protein? We’ve got some yummy suggestions a little further below.

Directions

  1. Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels. In a shallow bowl or resealable bag, combine 1 cup of teriyaki glaze with the chicken, making sure each piece is well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to let the flavors sink in.
  2. Heat a drizzle of olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Remove the chicken from the marinade, letting the excess drip off. Carefully place the breasts in the hot pan and cook for about 5–6 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F. (For best results, avoid crowding the pan and flip only once.)
  3. Transfer the chicken to a cutting board and let it rest for 5 minutes to lock in the juices. Drizzle the remaining teriyaki glaze on top, then slice the chicken into strips.
  4. Empty your Taylor Farms Asian Chopped Salad Kit into a serving bowl. Toss in the included toppings and dressing until everything is evenly coated. Top the dressed salad with your freshly sliced teriyaki chicken, sprinkle on some sesame seeds, and serve immediately. Enjoy!

Expand Your Protein Horizons

If you’d like to switch up the protein in your Chicken Teriyaki Salad Bowl, pan-seared salmon, shrimp, or tofu all work very well in this recipe. For salmon or shrimp, season lightly with salt and pepper, then sear in a hot pan with a little oil until just cooked through and golden. If you’re leaning toward a plant-based option, press any excess moisture out of extra-firm tofu before cutting it into cubes, then sear with a splash of teriyaki sauce or soy sauce for a slightly caramelized finish.

To create a full meal around your salad bowl, consider a few like-minded dishes with Asian-inspired flair, such as edamame, miso soup, sauteed veggies, or a simple fried rice to round out the meal. Feel free to get creative!
