Clean Protein Sources

Protein shows up in a lot of different forms, and not all of them look like a chicken breast or a protein shake. Many everyday ingredients naturally bring protein to the table, whether they come from dairy, plants, or pantry staples. These sources are used across a wide range of foods because they’re familiar, functional, and easy to work into real meals. Here’s how we boosted our fan favorite products with additional protein:

Meat & Cheeses

It’s no secret: meat and cheese are naturally high in protein and have been staples in meals for generations. They also provide nutrients like calcium, iron, and B vitamins. These ingredients instantly help meals feel more complete and satisfying when paired with less-satiating vegetables and grains.

Whey Protein

Whey protein comes from milk and contains all nine essential amino acids. It’s commonly used in foods because it provides a concentrated amount of protein in a small serving. In foods like dressings and baked items, whey protein blends in easily while keeping textures consistent.

Chickpea Flour

Chickpea flour is made from ground chickpeas and provides added protein, fiber, and minerals. It has a mild, neutral flavor, which is why you’ll often see it used to help hold ingredients together in savory foods — especially when they are plant-based.

Nuts & Pepitas

Always a good choice as a snack on their own, nuts and pepitas add protein and crunchy texture to dishes, along with a solid amount of healthy fats and minerals. Plus, they’re incredibly versatile, which is why they’re often used as toppings in salads and bowls.

Frequently asked questions

Protein levels vary by product, but Taylor Farms Power Products typically provide between 10 to 23 grams of protein per package. This includes everything from Power Salad Kits and Power Salads to Power Trays and Mini Power Kits.

A good source of protein provides 10–19% of the daily recommended value per serving, while an excellent source of protein provides 20% or more. All Taylor Farms Power Products (excluding the Mini Power Kits) are a good source of protein, at minimum, with several meeting the excellent source of protein benchmark.

The protein content comes from a variety of ingredients, including vegetables, cheeses, and additions like chickpea flour tortilla strips or protein crouton crumbles. Dressings and dips also include ingredients such as whey protein concentrate, buttermilk, and parmesan cheese.

The added proteins in Power Kit dressings naturally gel together as the dressing sits, which can make it appear thicker. A quick shake or stir loosens the dressing back into a smooth, pourable consistency.

Taylor Farms protein crouton crumbles are made with a blend of whole wheat flour, whey protein, milk protein, nutritional yeast, and garbanzo (chickpea) fava flour. This combination boosts protein content while maintaining the familiar crunch and texture you expect in a salad topper.

Taylor Farms uses microparticulate whey protein concentrate. This form of whey blends smoothly into ingredients like dressings and croutons while ensuring a consistent texture.

The cheeses used in Taylor Farms Power Products provide approximately 24 to 25 grams of protein per 100 grams of cheese
