Crispy Baked Prosciutto Salad Cups

Think prosciutto is only for charcuterie boards and antipasto plates? Well, turns out it’s also great in a muffin tin, baked to form a crispy little cup, then filled with the makings of our Creamy Italian Chopped Salad Kit. This zesty salad kit includes a mix of greens and crisp veggies, a blend of Italian cheeses, and is topped off with creamy Italian dressing and crunchy crouton crumbles. Of course, a little extra Parmesan on top is always a good idea, along with some chili crisp or Calabrian chili oil to give it a bit of a kick. These savory little cups are all too easy to put together and ideal for everything from appetizers for entertaining guests to a hearty snack.

But Really… What is Prosciutto, Actually?

Prosciutto might sound a little fancy, but at its core, prosciutto is just really, really good ham. This Italian staple is made from whole pork legs that are salt-cured and aged until they’re melt-in-your-mouth tender with a rich, salty-sweet flavor. Unlike common antipasto plate neighbors like spicy salami or pepperoni, prosciutto isn’t ground, smoked, or heavily seasoned — just carefully cured and sliced paper-thin. And while pancetta usually needs a hot pan, prosciutto’s ready to eat right out of the package.

Sure, you’ve probably seen it wrapped around melon or tucked into a charcuterie board, but prosciutto has plenty of other tricks. Crisp it in a pan and crumble it over pasta or a salad, layer it into a sandwich, or use it as a finishing touch on flatbread or roasted veggies. In a pinch, prosciutto always adds plenty of depth and just the right amount of richness — no extra effort required!
