Go Southwest, young man (or woman)

Southwest cooking may be one of the most truly “American” styles of cuisine, and is often credited with sparking the “fusion” trend in the culinary world. It blends styles and sensibilities from Spanish, American, and Native American cultures to create a uniquely “American” taste beloved in the U.S.

Early settlers in America brough Mexican and Spanish influences with peppers, tomatoes, apricots, peaches, squash and melons. Of course, Native Americans started it all with the inclusion of corn, nuts, beans, and other versatile ingredients that flourish in the arid region of the southwest.
