  1. Team Taylor Rallies Together to Raise Over $52,000 for Relay for Life

2018 marks more than 15 years of Taylor Farms participation in the American Cancer Society’s (ACS) Relay for Life. Relay For Life is the signature fundraiser for the ACS, staffed and coordinated by volunteers in thousands of communities and 27 countries. Volunteers give of their time and effort because they believe it’s time to take action against cancer.

The Relay itself is a team fundraising event where team members take turns walking around a track or designated path, and each event is 6-24 hours in length. Each team is asked to have a member on the track at all times to signify that cancer never sleeps. At our local Relays in Salinas and Tracy, Team Taylor walked beside representatives from almost 50 other companies.

Did you know that all of our Relay for Life efforts are planned and staffed entirely by our employees? It’s true, and this year Team Taylor stepped up big!

Team Taylor organized and hosted a variety of fundraising events, including our fun Farmers Market, and collected donations for the Relay walks. During the Relay, we set up a themed campsite at the event and continued fundraising efforts with event raffles for items like San Francisco Giants luxury suite tickets and Taylor Farms swag sales. All of the money raised from all of these employee-organized initiatives counted towards our overall team fundraising goal.

We’re happy to announce that, in total, Team Taylor from Taylor Farms Pacific and Taylor Farms Salinas raised over $52,000 for ACS!

Relay for Life is an important event on the Taylor Farms calendar every year. Volunteering and fundraising are central to our commitment to making a real difference in the communities where we live and work, and beyond.

Thank you to all Team Taylor and our local community members for making Relay for Life 2018 successful!

  3. Pizza Party Takeover with Molly My

Hi guys, Molly from My Magazine here! I’m celebrating National Salad Month with Taylor Farms and putting a delicious spin on one of my favorite months of the year. Also, guess what? Tomorrow is National Pizza Party Day (another reason to celebrate!). I’m always looking to create recipes that are delicious, healthy, and more importantly, easy.

I sampled all of Taylor Farms’ NEW Chopped Salad Kits: Avocado Ranch, Maple Bourbon Bacon, and Buffalo Ranch. They’re each loaded with flavor! The hardest part? Deciding which was my favorite.

A few months ago, I shared a Spicy Buffalo Chicken Soup recipe with Taylor Farms and you guys loved it, which inspired me to put together another buffalo themed dish! The Buffalo Ranch made for the perfect pizza topping — crisp veggies, creamy Monterey jack cheese, and buffalo ranch dressing.

Recipes like these are super customizable, so long as you have the base ingredients (in this case: pizza crust and your favorite Taylor Farms Chopped Salad), you can make it your own. Cauliflower crust is a great option when you’re looking to indulge a little more mindfully — a yummy alternative that has become one of my personal favorite ways to have a pizza. Bon appétit!

Buffalo Ranch Chopped Salad Pizza — with Cauliflower Crust

    Serves 2

    • 1 frozen cauliflower crust of choice, no toppings included
    • Olive oil, for drizzling
    • Taylor Farms Buffalo Ranch Chopped Kit
    • Sea salt
    • Red pepper flakes
    • Grilled chicken, optional

    1. Pre heat oven to 375-400 degrees (depending on your oven and crust instructions).
    2. While the oven is heating, add all salad kit ingredients into a bowl (including grilled chicken, if using) and toss with light dressing. Set aside.
    3. Bake crust (on a pizza pan) for 10-12 minutes, remove from oven and let cool. Once the crust is cool, drizzle olive oil on top and add a pinch of sea salt.
    4. Next, add the tossed salad directly onto the pizza. Top with red pepper flakes for some spice.
    5. Once you’ve sliced individual pieces of pizza, use any remaining dressing as garnish for extra flavor!

*Depending on the type of cauliflower crust you buy and your oven, baking can be tricky! I personally love my pizzas to be crunchier and a little on the burnt side. Whichever your style, keep an eye on your pizza as it bakes — and note: it will harden up as it cools.

Walmart recently hosted their annual Milestone Summit showcasing their monumental supplier sustainability platform dubbed “Project Gigaton”. Project Gigaton is Walmart’s initiative in emissions reduction, with a goal to remove 1 gigaton (1 billion tons) of greenhouse gas emission from its supply chain by 2030.

During the conference, Taylor Farms was honored as one of Walmart’s “featured suppliers” alongside other segment leaders including, Tyson Foods, Kellogg’s, Budweiser, Colgate, and Proctor & Gamble.

“At Walmart’s annual Sustainability Summit, we highlighted suppliers doing great work to reduce emissions through Project Gigaton, contributing to the goal of reducing one gigaton, a billion metric tons, of emissions in the value chain by 2030.”, said Zach Freeze, senior director of sustainability for Walmart. “We are excited to see the progress Taylor Farms is making to reduce waste and increase the renewable energy they source while continuing to provide great products for our customers.”

Charles Redfield, EVP, Walmart U.S. Food, Merchandising

Taylor Farms was highlighted for leading efforts in sustainable practices that have resulted in a significant reduction of energy emissions throughout the supply chain, as well as our commitment to waste diversion. Since 2012, Taylor Farms has embraced 8 major projects throughout the US that help power operations with renewable and alternative energy, conserve water, and minimize our impact on the environment. Embracing sustainable practices is no longer an option for Taylor Farms, but an imperative.
